Todd Leach, BA, FMCHC, HTP

BA-Communications
Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, 2019
Healing Touch Practitioner, 2020

Todd initially utilized his degree by working with sound in the film industry before owning a single-screen movie theater, The New Strand, in West Liberty, IA, for 18 years. As the fourth owner since the theater’s construction in 1910, he developed two invaluable skills: patience and listening. Being an active member of a small downtown community that relies on entertainment to thrive, serving on the city council, being a member of Rotary International, and offering many teens their first jobs, these skills have greatly benefited him.

Later, Todd studied permaculture and biodynamics alongside Kerri as they began their farm. They transitioned away from the theater and started raising animals due to Kerri’s struggles with several illnesses that required specific dietary needs. This change forced Todd to balance being a caregiver with having a career. He implemented various food plans, including Paleo, Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD), Wahls Protocol, Autoimmune Protocol (AIP), the removal of certain foods due to sensitivities, several variations of the Institute for Functional Medicine’s food plans, and a Whole Food Plant-Based diet.

When it came time for a career change, spurred by Kerri’s health improvement and his father’s cancer diagnosis, Todd chose to apply his skills for the greater good. He completed the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy program. This program combined motivational interviewing, positive psychology, and lifestyle changes, emphasizing a non-judgmental approach that meets individuals where they are in their journeys. Motivated by his family’s health challenges, Todd also learned Healing Touch, which has proven to be a rewarding experience, helping facilitate self-healing. Studies indicate that Healing Touch can reduce pain, promote relaxation, alleviate anxiety, and improve energy levels.

Todd has consistently worked with IT systems in various capacities on the side. He now works at ITS full-time, limiting his availability to provide Healing Touch services on Saturdays and certain evenings.

In his free time, Todd enjoys playing guitar and keyboard, gardening, and expanding his orchard, which includes chestnuts, pawpaws, apples, and other nut varieties as a trial.
